Youth Forum 'Achieving SDG4 with and for youth'
Prior to the International Conference, the Youth Forum took place virtually on Monday 13 June 2022 from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM (GMT+1). The forum provided a platform for young people, in the post COVID-19 context, to engage in a dialogue with intergenerational actors on their needs, priorities, and aspirations regarding their overall state of education.
Private Sector Forum 'Engaging in Adult Learning and Education'
Prior to the International Conference, the Private Sector Forum took place virtually on Tuesday, 14 June 2022 from 12 PM to 3 PM (GMT+1). The forum reflected on the current contributions and best practices of private actors in the provision of Adult Learning and Education (ALE), while it also examined the evolving role of the private sector given our rapidly changing societies.
Civil Society Forum 'Adult learning and education – Because the future cannot wait'
On Tuesday, 14 June 2022, a Civil Society Organizations Forum, hosted by the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE), took place in a hybrid modality as a pre-conference event. The forum gathered representatives of international civil society organizations to review the latest developments in adult learning and education (ALE), discuss challenges and priorities in different world regions, and elaborate from a civil society perspective a set of recommendations for CONFINTEA VII and its outcome document, the Marrakech Framework for Action.
Launch of UIL’s Making Lifelong Learning a Reality: A Handbook
At the Seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII), the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) internationally launched its publication Making Lifelong Learning a Reality: A Handbook. The Handbook provides information, evidence and basic conceptual models to facilitate the implementation of lifelong learning at national and local levels. It provides evidence from international experience and offers guidelines to operationalize lifelong learning in response of major sustainable development issues, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Handbook is meant as both a source of inspiration and as a guide for policy-makers and for officials responsible for implementing lifelong learning policies. The hybrid launch event provided insights on the main messages of the handbook and illustrated how it can be used in support of national lifelong learning policy initiatives in different contexts.

This session featured an opening presentation by UIL’s Director – who also moderated the launch - on the rationale behind the Handbook and the process of its development. Then, there were three keynote presentations which reflected on the Handbook’s content. The four presenters then engaged in a panel discussion, followed by a short question-and-answer session with participants.
