Vision

Wyndham’s key message is that the process of collaboration, genuine partnership, and community engagement is vital for the success of strategy actions. The municipality has a collaborative approach where it wants to build a learning culture that values and benefits from lifelong and life-wide learning. Wyndham developed the Learning Community Strategy 2018-2023, and this strategy is committed to creating a sustainable, healthy city that encourages and inspires people to pursue the journey of learning. The strategy builds on four goals: to celebrate, to advocate, to facilitate learning, and to be innovative.

Policies, plan and implementation

Sustainability and health
The city was showcased as a case study in the Implementing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Learning Cities publication, under the topic of the empowerment and mobilization of youth. Wyndham also provided excursions and in-person and online programmes on ESD and biodiversity in schools.
Equity and inclusion
Wyndham Integrated Learning Group (WILG) aims to enhance inclusion and equity in learning for people with disabilities aged 15-30. WILG utilises evidence- based approaches to support equitable pathways and outcomes for place- based learning needs for the target cohort in Wyndham. The city developed a shared vision statement and completed a baseline survey around disability awareness.
Decent work and entrepreneurship
The Learn West Network organised the Learning for Earning festival in 2021. The event featured 30 free practical and inspirational virtual workshops to help upskill people and look at different pathways for learning. It covered six key themes: learning skills, career planning and pathways, employment, industry, and business and entrepreneurship.

Good practices

WYNtalk series
This series promotes thought leadership and explores future practice in learning. The content of the presentations directly addresses several of the municipality’s priority skills and capabilities such as learning agility, digital fundamentals, and intercultural learning. Another objective of the series is to support partnerships between education, business, and employment providers to collaborate on bridging the gap between learning and working.
The Global Learning Festival
The 2021 edition of the programme enabled providers to run smaller, interactive events. The ability to interact with attendees, and to meaningfully field questions from the audience met the needs of both event providers and participants. The online-learning events were delivered under different categories, such as the arts, crafts, and hobbies.
