As a result of objectively diagnosing the achievements and limitations accumulated as a lifelong learning city, Jeonju aims to make a better city by preparing systematic implementation plans for more sustainable development for each year. The city has contributed to the promotion of lifelong learning as a ‘City of People, Jeonju of Dignity’, where all citizens are guaranteed opportunities for lifelong learning and a virtuous cycle of lifelong learning is available. In addition, the city has strived to help citizens achieve self-development and self-realization through lifelong learning and sought to improve the quality of life of citizens.

Policies, plan and implementation

Sustainability and health
The city of Jeonju has set sustainable goals to improve the quality of life and encouraged residents to develop themselves by learning. The Learning Community Revival Movement revives the local community through lifelong learning. It develops local human resources and prepares a system for maintaining and utilizing human resources, by forecasting available personnel and determining personnel needed in various fields.
Equity and inclusion
In terms of equity and inclusiveness, the city tried to improve citizenship by promoting the Jeonju spirit and by providing courses in the humanities. Many citizens have benefitted from these, and more people were eager to learn which created a brighter social atmosphere.
Decent work and entrepreneurship
In terms of decent work and entrepreneurship integrated into the Learning City Strategy, Jeonju nurtured instructors for lifelong learning colleges, citizen colleges, schools, humanities courses, adult schools, and instructor schools. Those who completed the training can use the knowledge and skills acquired for starting a business or teaching as an instructor.

Good practices

Everyday Humanities Jeonju

The project promotes humanities festivals and humanities seminars where citizens can experience the humanities in daily life.
Platform for the over 50s
