From 3 to 6 July 2023, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) together with the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia will organize the ‘Conference on Inclusive Lifelong Learning’ in Bali, Republic of Indonesia. Conference participants will discuss the implementation of the commitments made at the Seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII) which took place in Marrakech, Morocco, last year.

With the adoption of the Marrakech Framework for Action at CONFINTEA VII, representatives of 142 countries committed to translating the vision of a right to lifelong learning into reality. They undertook to significantly increase adult participation in learning and recognized the need for increased financial investment in adult learning and education.

Following this milestone commitment, this conference will bring together high-level representatives from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, as well as partner countries from other regions to discuss lifelong learning policies and initiatives, including upskilling and reskilling, with a focus on inclusion, and determine effective ways to translate the commitments of the Marrakech Framework for Action into policy measures and strategies.

Participants will be representative of the broad field of adult learning and lifelong learning and include ministers and senior technical officials from relevant ministries, as well as civil society representatives, academia and the private sector.
