From 15 to 17 June 2022, participants from across the globe came together for the Seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII) in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco. They took stock of achievements in adult learning and education, discussed challenges, and developed a new framework for action to make adult learning and education a reality around the world. CONFINTEA VII was hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco and co-organized with UNESCO.
Regional follow-up meetings
The COVID-19 pandemic showed the importance of adult education. Only if all of us have the chance to adapt to new developments and acquire the knowledge necessary to act jointly to solve global challenges will we be able to create fairer, more just and sustainable societies. A rapidly developing world does not allow for learning to finish with the end of compulsory or higher education. It requires lifelong learning for all.

About CONFINTEA
CONFINTEA VII encouraged UNESCO Member States to put in place policies, incentives, regulatory frameworks and institutional structures and mechanisms to contribute to a human rights culture, social justice, shared values and sustainability. In recognition of continuing advancements in artificial intelligence, special attention was paid to using information and communications technologies to promote access to adult learning and education and inclusion.

CONFINTEA Programme
Participate in the seventh International Conference on Adult Education
Over 1,000 participants took part in the conference, which examined effective adult learning and education policies within a lifelong learning perspective and within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants were nominated by UNESCO Member States.

Government of the Kingdom of Morocco
Under the high guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom of Morocco has made enormous progress in the field of adult learning and education by following the SDGs. This progress has been acknowledged by the Fourth Global Report on Adult Learning and Education (GRALE4). These achievements would benefit from being reinforced by the implementation of the Kingdom of Morocco's new development model and the framework law 51-17, in order to establish a quality education system and lifelong learning.

The promotion of adult learning and education lies at the heart of the mandate of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL). UIL is the only entity in the UNESCO family with a specific mandate to promote lifelong learning. It aims to strengthen the capacities of UNESCO Member States in the field of lifelong learning, with a focus on youth and adults, paying particular attention to the policies and systems conducive to lifelong learning pathways.
