Policies, plan and implementation

Sustainability and health
Taiyuan aims to be a sustainable learning city. From the protection of laws and regulations at the local level, to the deployment and planning at the municipal level, and then to the specific task decomposition of various departments, the city aims to integrate principles of sustainability across its activities.
Equity and inclusion
Basic public services are being developed with balance and quality in mind. 58 primary and secondary schools have been newly reconstructed and expanded so more young people can access formal learning and experience a high quality education.
Decent work and entrepreneurship
The city has established a talent think tank by promoting cooperation between schools and enterprises. In addition, Taiyuan established a number of entrepreneurship and employment bases for college students and carried out special training courses for organization secretaries in low-income villages to continuously promote employment and entrepreneurship.

Good practices

Learning platform
Taiyuan launched a learning platform in 2006. Up to 5,013 hours of free online courses are now available, as well as more than 30,000 digital books.
Study Week
The Taiyuan municipal government hosts a Study Week every year. To date, more than 2,170 sessions of public lectures and events have been organized.
Improving the digital literacy of older people
This initiative aims to solve the difficulties encountered by older people in the use of intelligent technologies so that they are better able to navigate improvements in information development and maximise the benefits these provide.
