Policies, plan and implementation

Overview of challenges
When it had to change its economic structures from heavy mining industries to light industries, it resulted in a decrease of population and the loss of many skilled workers. This demographic change is one of the main challenges Pécs faces.
Sustainability and health
The city established an Integrated Strategy for Urban Development that reflects innovative industrial growth towards green energy and sustainability.
Equity and inclusion
NGO-based practices are acknowledged through a so-called ‘Pécs Civic Gate Movement’. The city will extend dialogue with its citizens, civil society groups and other stakeholders to identify and realize learning needs with a bottom-up approach.
