Strengthening partnerships: Universität Hamburg President visits UIL

28 February 2017

Universität Hamburg and the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) have cooperated on research activities ever since the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2011. Among others, the 2011 MoU led to the assignment of a part-time associated junior professor to UIL, and financial support from the city of Hamburg.

On 28 February 2017, Professor Dr Dieter Lenzen, President of Universität Hamburg, and Mr Arne Carlsen, Director of UIL, had a partnership meeting to take stock of progress made over the last six years. The discussion concerned furthering UIL’s cooperation with the university, including a new joint research project on numeracy. To complement existing collaboration, it was agreed that UIL staff be kept informed of the university’s work in educational sciences in a meeting planned for May 2017.
